A practical starting point for collecting the information needed to review a replacement.
Identify the original equipment
Photograph the entire nameplate and record the manufacturer, complete model, serial number and manufacturing reference. Keep the original model suffixes: they can identify configuration details.
Record the duty
Provide motor power, input speed, output speed or ratio, operating hours and the application. Describe starts, reversing, shock loads and any history of overheating or failure.
Check the mechanical interfaces
Gather the mounting arrangement, input and output shaft dimensions, flange details and a general arrangement drawing. Photos help establish context but do not replace measured dimensions.
Include auxiliaries and environment
Record the lubrication arrangement, cooling equipment, backstop, seals and monitoring. Include ambient temperature and relevant process or cleaning conditions.
Define the commercial requirement
State quantity, destination and target date. Ask for the quotation to distinguish the unit, motor, coupling, auxiliaries and any required documentation.
